Getting Started

Having a baby can be extremely daunting with not knowing what to expect, thinking if you are going to cope and if you are going to survive with very little sleep.

Claiming UIF benefits are now made easier for you allowing you that spare time to catch up on your sleep and do those important things.

We usually suggest starting the claiming process of completing the documents 2 months prior to starting maternity leave allowing everything to be complete by the time baby arrives so that you dont have to burden yourself with forms while trying to find your feet.

Once your original claim forms are received these are inputted into our systems, a few supporting documents from our side are added and the initial first check are done on these.

We officially start following up on processing at 6 weeks from the date that your claim was submitted however should a payment be received prior to 6 weeks then please let us know so that we can get your claims approval details and start with continuation of payments if needed.

Second and final checks are done on all documents and you are notified that your documents have been received and all is in order for submission, Should anything at this stage still be needed you will be notified of the same.

Once your claim is approved you will receive a payment from the start of leave until the date of submission and payments are always made in arrears. This could mean that you receive as little as 1 days worth of funds on your approval. Do not be alarmed by this as we will then start the continuation of payments process so that you receive all further funds due.

Submission to The Department of Labour can only take place once you officially start unpaid or part paid Maternity leave or Sick leave. Should documents be received after leave has started then they are usually submitted within 1 week of the original documents being received subject to everything being in order.

As much as every effort is taken to avoid a claim refusal there are sometimes things that are not within our control that can cause a claim to be refused, should this happen we will ascertain the cause of the refusal and obtain the required additional documents needed for the refusal to be reversed into an approval. Refusal additional documents are submitted weekly until the claim is approved.

Once your claim has been submitted to DoL the processing will start and the timeline for this is given as 6 to 8 weeks by The Department of Labour, There are times where this is much shorter however those are the official Department of Labour guidelines.

As soon as the claim is approved and your first payment has been received we will start submitting your monthly continuation of payment forms to The Department of Labour. Payments are always made in arrears and never in advance and these will be submitted monthly for you until your claim is fully paid. Your final payment will always be received after your leave has finished or until your credits have been exhausted which ever comes first. There are also times that you are paid in full on your first payment dependent at what stage of your leave your claim was submitted.
